Version 3.9 to be more stable (18 October 2006)
This article was, but is no longer, dynamic. All content is now complete.

Written by Ryan Fisher, Statistics Version 3 programmer.

After close scrutinizing of the coding, and feedback in Talk SHOUTcast, I decided it was a good idea to stabilize Statistics Version 3 for the next release. Below are a list of issues which have been addressed in Version 3.9.

  • When no port or address is typed the program does not generate a runtime error.
  • Invalid ports do not crash the program.
  • Instead of "invalid list index" error when there is a connection problem (such as an invalid port), a more precise error message is shown.
  • The program now minimizes to the tray when you have selected that option (an error during the switch from 3.5 to 3.6 went un-detected until this release).
  • The file save feature now functions correctly within the data source history.
  • When you press a key on the data source history window, the Ascii value for that key doesn't show.
  • When you try to overwrite a file which exists in the data source history window, it will ask you if you really want to first.
  • A second speech mark is now shown in the data source history window. E.G. Listeners changed from '1' to '3'
  • Data history slots do not crash Statistics after all 10,000 slots have been used. The slots simply reset.
  • "Search on the internet" was removed from the parse install screen (out-dated).
  • When you change the data refresh rate, you don't need to wait until the old refresh rate runs out in the current pass of the timer. It will update straight away.
  • Changes to the way version comparison is carried out*
  • Saving of addresses is verified to prevent crashing.

As you can see, quite allot of issues have been resolved in this release of Statistics Version 3.

* I should point out, obviously we have run out of version numbers after 3.9, so the version number will now carry on from 3.10 (Not 3.one, but 3.ten). I know in maths this is impossible, but no one cares about maths.
