Changes to be made to parse methods.

"Parse methods" were a feature firstly programmed into Statistics Version 3. To increase stability and decrease problems, Parse methods have to change.

Instead of a "Parse File", Statistics Version 4 will read all of the information from a template. This template should make it much easier to share parse methods.

A template will be an HTML file which gives instructions to Statistics v4. These instructions will tell Statistics how to layout the returned stats both in the program and when uploaded. Statistics v4 should come packed with lots of templates, so most users won't have to worry about this.

How do I find out if this affects me?

Only those who opted for the alternative stream parsing methods will be affected. Those who run SHOUTcast will not have to worry about this change at all, the software continues to be designed and built around SHOUTcast.

User Feedback

"Radio100" Question: Will the new template system allow me to customize uploaded pages?
Answer:
Yes! The new template system has still to be discussed on the site, but there is big plans to allow you to upload files to your server. The way which templates are used will change dramatically with the release of Statistics Version 4.

Jamie's Question: Will any templates cost us money? If not where will the money be made?
Answer:
Nothing associated with Statistics Version 4 basic edition will cost any money. As yet, it hasn't even been discussed how/if the site will make any money to further develop software. If the decision is made to do so, it will not involve forcing users to buy Statistics, there will always be a free version. So no, templates will be provided free.
